The public vs. private school debate is a heated one. Public school often provides a more than adequate education, and may have some benefits over private school. But there are also several valid reasons a parent may prefer a private school setting for their child. We’re not here to weigh in on which option is better for your child. Because, to be frank, we believe that is YOUR decision as the parent of your child.
One thing we can all agree on: Private school tuition is expensive. For many families, tuition is one of the biggest expenses, right up there with housing. Private school tuition can range from around $6,000 to over $40,000 annually. The Kars4Kids Student Grant is offered to assist those families struggling to afford the expense.
Then there are those who, often for financial reasons, don’t make it through high school, adversely impacting their futures. The General Educational Development (GED) test gives these students a shot at earning a high school equivalency diploma, opening up new opportunities for them. Kars4Kids offers financial assistance to students who wish to take the GED test but can’t afford the associated fees.
They may prefer a specific educational approach such as the Montessori or Waldorf methods.
Their child may need specialized instruction or academic courses not available in a local public school.
They may wish to provide their child with a religious education.
Private school may offer smaller classes and more individualized attention or higher academic expectations and student engagement than the local public school.
